Hungarian PuliThe Hungarian Puli is a loyal, obedient dog and perhaps the best-known of the Hungarian sheepdogs outside its homeland. It is easily distinguishable by its long, dark, corded coat, which is not so difficult to groom as might be believed Origin and history The Puli is better known than other Hungarian sheepdogs, such as the Pumi, the Komondor and the Kuvasz, probably because in its native land it directs the flock by jumping on or over the sheep's backs. It is said to have existed for 1,000 years, being a descendant of the sheepdogs brought to Hungary by the Magyars. It has proved itsell as a fine water retriever and has done well in obedience and police work Hungarian shepherds favour their dark colour, which is easily picked out among the flock.
