German Pinscher

The Medium Pinscher, previously known as the German Pinscher, is a very old breed, yet it is virtually unknown outide its homeland. This, the middle-sized of the pinschers, bears far more similarity to the Dobermann than to the Miniature Pinscher and, like the Dobermann, has its ears cropped in its native country. The tail is docked and the coat is smooth and glossy. Colour usually black with small tan markings or self red. There is also a most attractive and distinctive harlequin Pinscher. The Medium Pinscher was bred as a ratter, but nowadays is mainly kept as an alert, lively pet. Height IS 16-19in (40.5-48cm).
